Whitewright Public Library

Grant from the Tocker Foundation

The Whitewright Public Library has been awarded a grant by the Tocker Foundation, which focuses on small, rural, Texas libraries serving populations of 12,000 or less. This funding will allow WPL to purchase new books to add to the library's collection.

A total award of $4,998 will be used to expand and update our children’s picture book selection, adding recent award winning books such as Caldecott and Newbery winners, popular character series, and much more. We will also add to our to our increasingly popular chapter book section.

In addition, we will select non-fiction books for all ages on a wide variety of topics, with a focus on health related topics where information is constantly being revised. We will also expand our titles relating to STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), in order to keep up with local educational curriculum, as well as to prepare both students and adults for a STEM career path.

Our first Tocker funded order of 150 books are on their way, and you can place a reserve on titles with a valid library card by visiting the catalog at whitewright.biblionix.com. We still have funds to purchase more titles which fit the criteria. If you have any suggestions, please let staff know in person or call 903-364-2955.
