Whitewright Public Library Invites Readers to Dive into “Familia” During Nationwide Digital Book Club

Ebook and audiobook available for free on Libby with no waitlists or holds

Whitewright Public Library invites readers to join Libby Reads, the global digital book club from Libby, the library reading app. From April 23 – May 7, library card holders can enjoy “Familia: A Riveting and Unforgettable Novel of Sisterhood” by Lauren E. Rico as an ebook or audiobook for free with no waitlists or holds through Libby.

This powerful novel asks the question “What if your most basic beliefs about your life were suddenly revealed to be a lie?” When a genealogy test reconnects two half-sisters, one who has been searching for her missing little sister her whole life and the other who believes this must be a mistake, they set out to find the truth.

“This novel grew out of my fascination with those moments of reckoning: when the stories we’ve always believed about our families are complicated by new information, and when love and loyalty are tested by truth,” said Rico in a letter to Libby Reads participants. “’Familia’ explores how people respond when the past resurfaces, and whether family is something we inherit—or something we choose.”

Formerly known as Big Library Read, Libby Reads continues the same beloved program that has connected millions of readers worldwide for more than a decade. Readers can access “Familia” on all major devices through Libby or netldc.overdrive.com, including iPhone®, iPad®, Android™ phones and tablets. U.S. readers can also utilize the “send to Kindle®” feature to read the title on their Kindle ereader. The title will automatically expire at the end of the lending period, with no late fees.
